Team play a first for the series.
The 'Amplitude' remake continues to evolve. Not only can fans now see recent footage of the game in action, but 'Amplitude' on the PS4 will be available to play at PAX East.
That playable version will be focused on something brand new for the series, team play. According to Creative Lead, Ryan Lesser, the team was concerned that the classic free-for-all version of the multiplayer would leave some new players in fear as pros dominated. The solution then has become to add another multiplayer mode in the form of team play.
In addition to free-for-all, 'Amplitude' will offer a Team Play version of multiplayer, which will allow both 2v2 and even 3v1. But why the concern? Well that's because the team wants 'Amplitude' to be viable in a party game setting.
"We want to create a game that can be super fun in a party situation, while also being tight and sharp in a way that could potentially even appeal to the competitive gaming community. I think that we’re on the right track now that we have both the classic Free-For-All Multiplayer mode and the new Team Play mode. Time will tell, but we have a couple of months to really suss it out, playtest the crap out of it, and get some great feedback from fans."
'Amplitude' will be playable at the Harmonix booth at Pax East (#4224), and it also will be featured as part of the show's Omegathon tournament. General release to the PS4 and PS3 is expected sometime this summer.
