Astro making bold moves for the console markert.
Astro, makers of the renowned wireless Astro A50 and wired Astro A40, have outlined plans for five new models based off of those stalwart designs. Though many details are still to come, this outline should help those deciding where to go with their PS4 and Xbox One headset needs.
First off, for the PS4 is the A40 Headset + MixAmp Pro, and as it suggests, this bundle takes the wired A40 design, matches it with a MixAmp Pro and a new color scheme, and the result is a stylish wired Dolby Digital 7.1 headset that works with the PS4, the PC, PS3, and the 360.
Next up is a new A50 "built to match" the PS4. This is their signature wireless model, and like the A50 it has its own color scheme, Dolby Digital 7.1 sound, and is compatible with the PS4, the PC, PS3, and the 360.
Even more sexy are the Xbox One offerings.
The Xbox One themed A40 comes in a bundle as the A40 Headset + MixAmp M80. Naturally, this wired headset has 7.1 Dolby Digital sound, and the included MixAmp M80 connects directly to the Xbox One controller, displacing the need for Microsoft' Xbox One Stereo Adapter.
Then we a pair of Astro A50's for the Xbox One. Both are Dolby Digital 7.1 and include the new AG1 chat cable for Xbox One chat compatibility, but the difference between the two models involves a 'Halo.' One A50 is Xbox One tuned, while the other, the Halo A50 is Xbox One tuned and includes a Halo themed look.
One important thing to note is that with the recent introduction of the Astro USB Tx trasmitter, those looking to use a A50 on their consoles and on their PC can do so (with the purchase of a USB Tx) without having to disconnect and reconnect any transmitters, which makes for a true dual system option.
Astro has promised a full of set details on these five offerings, but it's clear that the company is taking the new consoles with their headset quirks, and devising very focused solutions. Not just it works, but it works to the spec that users expect from Astro.
Here's the upcoming (October 20th, $299.99) Astro A50 Xbox One Edition:
