Will it follow in the mold of the 2015 game?
There are racing games and there are racing games, but one staple of the industry over the last several console generations has been 'Need for Speed.' The current generation has seen two games already, the second being last year's simple named 'Need for Speed.' Even with the series' longevity, the next installment is of often uncertain.
Today, developer Ghost Games announced that "We are now building upon the foundations that have been laid with Need for Speed and delivering our next game in 2017."
With 2017 in mind, it seems that 'Need for Speed' is following an every other year model. Compared with trying to ship a game every year (one that's deep into development when the last game hits the public), this is a much more tenable model.
And speaking of the last 'Need for Speed,' Ghost Games has also confirmed that following the past six months of updates; there will be no more free content updates.
