Watch the brutal teaser trailer.
Mark Essen is working on a sequel to his hit fencing game 'Nidhogg,' and it's coming in 2017. Called 'Nidhogg 2,' the sequel features the same one-on-one fencing gameplay, but now with the promise of "more weapons, music, levels and fun!" Surely, nobody can argue with the inclusion of more fun. It's set to release on PC and Mac in 2017.
One area that fans will notice a drastic change in is the game's art style. The minimalistic style of the original is gone, as it now features artwork and animations by artist Toby Dixon. 'Nidhogg 2' will also feature a soundtrack filled with music by artists such as Mux Mool, Dose One, and Daedelus. Essen has said that addtional collaborators will be announced "as the project progresses."
Until then, check out the teaser trailer below to get a feel for the new game's style.
The game will be shown off more October 1st at TwitchCon. The first sizable chunk of gameplay will make its debut on the event's Indie Stage at 5:15 PM, and will be broadcasted through Twitch. If you're attending the event in San Diego, you'll be able to play it at booth 104.
