'Witcher 3' and 'Metal Gear Solid V' take top honors.
So, you may have heard about some tiny show called The Game Awards from last night, which is basically the slightly evolved version of the Spike VGA's. thankfully taking the chances of seeing an Axe Body Spray commercial out of the equation. The show itself wavered a bit between being a trying-too-hard attempt at cool (most of the presenter script) and being a legit source of awesome (if you haven't heard about it already, go Youtube Geoff Keighley announcing Konami's total screwjob to Hideo Kojima right on air).
Where the awards biggest victory came was in the winners themselves, where there was a nice even spread of love for the big titles and the little guys. As everyone probably expected, 'Witcher 3' and 'Metal Gear Solid V' came out on top, but both 'Splatoon' and Sam Barlow's 'Her Story' came out of the thing with multiple awards under their belt, admist some heavy AAA competition. It's a definitely sign of good things where game coverage is concerned. Have a look at the winners, and if you have the time, you can watch the whole show again here. Just have some tissues ready for the segment on Satoru Iwata.
