Real men fight with swords.
Amid all of the the 'Tom Clancy' and 'Assassin's Creed' franchise news, Ubisoft showed off a new IP at its E3 presser yesterday. Titled 'For Honor,' the game is based on in-depth melee combat and will be coming to the PS4, Xbox One, and PC at an unknown time.
Those watching the conference were treated to a bit of gameplay in addition to the cinematic announcement trailer. The basic game actually looks similar to 'Chivalry: Medieval Warfare'—with a deep melee combat system that forces players to make strategic cuts and parries—except with the added flair you might expect from a triple-A developer like Ubisoft Montreal. Players take to the battlefield with a whole army of AI-controlled warriors at their back and have fun cutting down less powerful minions before facing off against another player, which is where the real challenge comes in and the strategic aspect of combat shows its face.
The game includes three different factions based on some of history's greatest melee warriors. The Legions are made up of knights, the Warborn consist of Vikings, and the Chosen feature samurai.
The game will include multiplayer modes as well as a single-player campaign. You can check out the reveal trailer below.
