Mix and match this year's World Cup teams.
EA is updating the original 'FIFA 14' release on May 29, for free, with 'FIFA 14 Ultimate Team: World Cup,' which augments the popular team-building mode with this year's 32 World Cup teams. This update has nothing to do with the other World Cup game from EA this past year, 'FIFA 2014 World Cup Brazil.' According to EA:
"FUT (FIFA Ultimate Team) fans will also have the chance to write football history. With Online and Single Player tournament modes, players can compete through the group stage and knockout phases in order to win the FIFA World Cup. By winning matches, players will earn in-game virtual coins that can be used to acquire packs in the FIFA 14 Ultimate Team: World Cup Store to strengthen their squad. Fans can increase squad chemistry by finding and playing with players from the same country or governing confederation."
The update is coming to the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4 and PC versions of the game. This new mode will remain completely separate from the original Ultimate Team, meaning you won't be able to swap in any of the players from the teams you already have. On the bright side, you can use currently existing coins to buy packs in both the original and World Cup versions of the mode. Head over to the EA Sports posting for a full FAQ on the update.
