Mysterious happenings.
It seems like every day, another remaster of a classic title is announced. Well, this isn't one of those announcements exactly. What appears to a one man company, DARK Design Games, is offering a RPG Maker game as 'Mystic Quest HD Remaster.' The important thing to note is that although the 'Final Fantasy' branding is nowhere to be found, there's no word from Square Enix on how legitimate the use of the SNES ere RPG is here.
For those that may have missed it during the SNES era, 'Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest' is a Squaresoft made RPG that was designed to introduce RPGs to western audiences. In spite of its odd origins, short length, and mix of other attributes, the game does have its fans, especially as it may have served as many players' first RPG. In contrast to many other RPGs, Square Enis doesn't typically mention 'Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest' among the company's most cherished products.
As for this RPG Maker game, it's described as "a complete, new remaster" with "new graphics, soundtrack and highly enhanced gameplay. A game that Final Fantasy fans and RPG Gamers worldwide just cannot miss." Frankly, 'Mystic Quest' is a game that 'Final Fantasy' fans can feel quite comfortable missing. That said, footage of this remaster is available to watch.
The 'Mystic Quest HD Remaster' is listed as being available to preorder for $7.99 with "Square Enix advertising," "Bonus Content + DLC," and "For PC and Android."
