When Gearbox, best known for the colossal success of 'Borderlands' and colossal failure of 'Aliens: Colonial Marines,' first revealed it's newest game, they weren't too eager to show footage. In this second round of press, though, it's all about the gameplay. 'Battleborn' is colorful and inventive, falling under the category of Gearbox's better projects.
Though it's the cooperative campaign on display here, the arguably more interesting side of 'Battleborn,' a MOBA-style 5v5 competitive mode, has yet to surface online. Consider what you see a public focus test of the game's art style more than anything else.
In either mode, though, you'll be leveling up one of many characters, each meant to represent a stereotypical video game protagonist (bow-weilding elves, rifle-weilding marines, fist-weilding tanks). In MOBA fashion, that progress only lasts a match or single campaign level.
'Battleborn' is due out for Xbox One, PS4 and PC sometime in 2015.
