Wooden shields and fire arrows don't get along so well.
Nintendo's next 'Legend of Zelda' title, 'Breath of the Wild,' still seems far down the road in terms of release date, but, fortunately for series fans, Nintendo is becoming a bit more generous in terms of showing off gameplay. This past week, Nintendo's Twitter accounts have put out a pair of clips showing different elements of combat in the game, most recently featuring the game's archery mechanics.
Like in previous Zelda titles, different types of arrows will be used to solve puzzles and reach new areas. In the clip, Link takes out a group of enemies at once with a bomb arrow before switching over to traditional arrows to cut down a suspended bridge. Once he's matched against a more armored enemy, Link burns away his shield with a fire arrow and freezes him in place with an ice arrow.
What might be most interesting to series fans is the quick arrow-switching system that seems to let players easily switch the type of arrows they're using without having to trudge through an inventory menu.
You can watch the clip below.

Earlier in the week, Nintendo also shared a clip of Link utilizing all sorts of melee weapons that weren't his iconic Master Sword, including, rather grimly, slapping skeletons with the arm of one of their fallen compatriots.
