Just don't expect anything until Final Fantasy XV is done.
During a launch event in Hong Kong for 'Final Fantasy Type-0 HD', the game's director, Hajime Tabata revealed that work on 'Final Fantasy Type-1' has already begun. Tabata states that work on the sequel started shortly after the first game was released on PSP in Japan, even going so far as to reveal some of the pre-production artwork for the game at the launch event. However, when Tabata was brought on as director for 'Final Fantasy XV', production was halted, which leaves the game currently in stasis.
Tabata and his team are definitely ready, and 'Type-0 HD' included a special end cutscene teasing the sequel, but it's safe to say, with the amount of work going into 'FFXV' at the moment, it could be a while. Still, if they were able to get 'Final Fantasy Versus XIII' out of development hell, it's doubtful they'll let 'Type-1' wither on the vine too long.
