Just like putting on glasses.
'Grand Theft Auto V' was a stunning game visually on the PS3, and most certainly a late generation triumph. Jumping to the PS4 means different things to different people- a new controller, new social features, new content, first person mode, etc. But of course, as it always is with ports, there is the visual comparsion, which Sony has just shared.
There's more at work here than just a step up in resolution. Texture detail and certain environment geometry has been bumped way up, with vegetation in particular becoming more prevalent. Specular and normal mapping complexity has been increased several times over. Lighting fall off and highlights have loss that highly optimized look, and the number of NPCs seems greatly increased.
