Available this week for Digital Deluxe and season pass holders.
Gearbox and 2K have pulled back the curtain on Alani, the first of five free new characters that will be coming to the arena shooter 'Battleborn.' Alani will become available for all players on May 31, with Digital Deluxe and season pass holders receiving early access a week earlier on May 24.
Alani is a combination healer/warrior monk who fights as a member of the druidic Eldrid faction, home of heroes like mushroom ninja Miko and ice monster Kelvin. Hailing from an ocean world, Alani uses her control of water to enhance her abilities.
Alani's release will also herald the introduction of Hero Keys, items that can be used to instantly unlock 'Battleborn' characters without meeting any of the other requirements. These keys are also reusable, meaning that if you unlock a character with a Hero Key and then later meet the requirements normally needed to unlock that character, the Hero Key will be returned to you for use on another hero.
Digital Deluxe and season pass holders will all receive one Hero Key once Alani releases. Those who participated in the PS4 open beta will receive one as well. Players who participated in the PS4 beta and also hold a season pass will receive two Hero Keys.
Alani will be available for 47,500 in-game credits upon release. On both release days, Alani will become available at noon Eastern (9 a.m. Pacific).
