And one of the new characters requires two players to play.
BlizzCon 2015 came and went this weekend, meaning a huge swath of Blizzard's game catalog was treated to new announcements. Fans of Blizzard's MOBA, 'Heroes of the Storm,' got a preview of the kind of new content the game will see rolled out in future updates, including three new Heroes, a new Battleground, and a new way to play the game.
The new Hero that has garnered the most attention is Cho'Gall, a two-headed Hero that two players control simultaneously. The player behind Cho has control over the duo's legs, making him responsible for all movement, and controls the pair's right arm, dealing melee damage. Gall players are along for the ride movement-wise but make up for it with their long-range, high-damage assassin kit. The two halves complement each other, and players with solid communication skills have the opportunity to set up powerful combos with Cho'Gall.
Also revealed were Lunara—a nature-based ranged assassin with debilitating poisons—and Greymane—a shapeshifting ranged assassin who can take down opponents as man or Worgen.
The newly revealed Towers of Doom map offers a slight twist on the familiar 'Heroes of the Storm' gameplay. Instead of Heroes attacking opponents' Cores directly, they must capture and hold Bell Towers across the map and activate them with Altars that appear every so often. Activating an Altar will cause that team's Bell Towers to fire on the opposing Core.
Players looking for even more of a gameplay changeup will enjoy the news of Arena, a new game mode altogether. Arena is a high-speed, high-energy, best-of-three game mode that encourages quick matches and plenty of action. Players start by choosing one of three Heroes randomly assigned to them. Players can also see their teammates' choices so team composition can still be coordinated. Arena maps have a single objective and change between rounds to keep gameplay fresh. The team that wins two rounds is the winner.
