Part of Arkane's "play your way" philosophy.
An update for 'Dishonored 2' will be adding a New Game Plus game mode as well as custom difficulty settings next month, publisher Bethesda announced.
The announcement didn't go into detail about what exactly either of these additions means. Traditionally, "New Game Plus" suggests restarting the game with a character's upgrades intact. If developer Arkane Studios chooses this route, Corvo or Emily would be able to start from the beginning of the game with access to the entire suite of Void abilities cultivated in their previous playthrough.
"Custom difficulty settings" are a bit more nebulous, but on the surface it seems like the developer wants to give players even more options for how they would like to play the game, whether they just want to explore the game's lore without a lot of guard harassment or test their skills against the most brutal AI the game can muster.
Both of these changes were introduced in the context of Arkane's "play your way" mantra, which the developer explained further in a video, shared below.
