Filled with cool little details.
Today, Capcom has released two new short trailers for the upcoming survival horror game 'Resident Evil VII', showcasing two different aspects of the game. In the first trailer, we get a glimpse at item combination, specifically making more effective healing items. In a very amusing touch, protagonist Ethan's health is displayed via a smartwatch, functioning identically to classic 'RE' titles, but with a little more real world context. You can check it out right here:
In the second trailer, we get a brief glimpse of combat with antagonist Jack Baker, showing how he just doesn't want to stay dead:
I really like these brief trailers showing small but important mechanical details. For all intents and purposes, this is classic 'Resident Evil' with fixed camera angles switched out for a first person view, and that seems to be working terrifically. The fight with Jack is just like Crimson Heads, but not being able to see them get up right away adds a really cool layer of tension. And in that first trailer, it's fun to see the objectives saying things like "get 3 dog heads and open the door to the yard". Yup, sounds like an 'RE' puzzle, alright.
'Resident Evil VII' will be released on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on January 24th, 2017.
