Fans Irate Over Ubisoft's Decision to Delay Wii U Exclusive 'Rayman Legends' Until September

Wii U version delayed despite being rumored as finished; delay coincides with the announcement of 360 and PS3 versions.
'Rayman Legends' had been one of the most intriguing Wii U launch titles ever since its E3 demonstration. While the series has a decent following, it was clear from the game's announcement that it was built around the Wii U's Gamepad. Although the game's release date lingered into February, Ubisoft did release a sizable demo that seemed to entice fans.
That changed yesterday when Ubisoft announced that not only would the game be delayed until September, but would be releasing along 360 and PS3 versions.
As the throng of fans took to social media, including the Miiverse to express disappointment, the possibility most galling for fans was the strong likelihood that the Wii U version is ready to release. According to a report on Eurogamer, an ex-Ubisoft Montpellier employee associated with a set of NeoGAF posts confirmed the finished status of Wii U game. "If you're pissed, imagine how we feel. Think on the situation, we've been making overtime with this game practically since May preparing E3, and then almost a demo per month (Gamescom, Wii U presentation, shops, eShop, etc...) and at the same time trying to actually finish the game.
We had a first delay because it was obvious we couldn't finish on time but we gave it all to be there on February. What face do you think we had when the week we had to close the game we're being told it's not going to be released? I couldn't believe it.
For us, this means we've spent six months barely seeing our wives, kids, and friends for nothing because, after all, such a haste wasn't needed. Believe it, it was a hell to swallow this news."
Ubisoft has had the strongest third party presence on the Wii U until now with titles like 'Zombi U' and 'Assassin's Creed 3,' but the latest turn of events, including accusations which Ubisoft has yet to respond to, suggests that the Wii U and its user base are not a priority for publisher. For the moment, though, what is clear is that 'Rayman Legends' has moved from February 26 to the ever more crowded September 2013.
