Season pass owners issued refund.
'Batman: Arkham Origins' is still due its most significant piece of DLC, an all new story segment, likely involving Mr. Freeze and Wayne Manor. Unfortunately for Wii U owners, this new content will not be coming to the Wii U. Nintendo has issued those users who purchased a season pass for the game a full refund along with this explanation:
Thanks so much for your support of Batman: Arkham Origins on Wii U.
We are contacting you today because you purchased the Batman: Arkham Origins Season Pass for Wii U. We hope you’ve been enjoying the content that has been delivered thus far. Based on demand for Downloadable Content on the system, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has made the decision to remove its offering of the upcoming new story campaign for Wii U. As a result, we will be crediting the entire $19.99+tax cost of the Season Pass back to your Nintendo eShop account. You will still be able to enjoy the content already released thus far.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your support of the game.
Sincerely,
Nintendo of America Inc.
Those users who did purchase the season pass are able to keep all previously released content, including the Initiation set of challenge maps.
The cancellation of the remaining DLC by Warner Bros., which, as of now, will still be produced for the 360, PS3, and PC, is a move that would indicate extremely poor sales of DLC for the game on the Wii U. Nintendo's platforms have not been the most DLC friendly. Though the Wii U has made strides, its limited internal storage, convoluted eShop/Nintendo ID system, and lack of a global achievements system likely hurts interest for the exact demographic most likely to purchase DLC for a game like 'Batman: Arkham Origins.'
