There's no date yet, but Warner has confirmed plans to bring the classics 'Gone with the Wind' and 'The Wizard of Oz' to Blu-ray in 2009.
Released previously in deluxe, multi-disc DVD special editions, Warner had first revealed that plans were underway for deluxe Blu-ray editions early last year.
The studio has now confirmed to retailers that 'Gone With the Wind: 70th Anniversary Ultimate Collector's Edition' and 'The Wizard of Oz: 70th Anniversary Ultimate Collector's Edition' will receive extensive high-def releases by the end of the year.
There are no tech or supplement specs as of yet, but expectations are high for restored video and audio, and extensive supplements. Needless to say, watch this space for the latest news as it comes to us.
In the meantime, you'll find listings for both 'Gone with the Wind' and 'The Wizard of Oz' in the "Release Dates Pending" section of our Blu-ray Release Schedule. Stay tuned!
