A familiar $99 per year fee allows anyone access to the new SDK, online portal, and ability to release games on the recently launched Vita/PlayStation-certified Android platform.
The sudden transition from a few select developers to almost anyone may flood the new service with an unending assortment of direct clones of successful games.
Sarah Thomson, manager of PS Mobile, promises to temper the open development environment with a "thick layer of curation," and to be on guard for any games "breaking some major rules in our guidelines."
