Both Steven Spielberg classics are rumored to be heading to the 4K format later this year.

According to Blu-ray.com, Universal Studios is working on 'E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial' for Ultra HD Blu-ray on July 11.

An extra-terrestrial is accidentally left behind on Earth and is befriended by a young boy and his brother and sister. As Elliot attempts to help his extra-terrestrial companion contact his home planet so that he might be rescued, the children must elude scientists and government agents determined to apprehend the alien for their own purposes...which results in an adventure greater than any of them could have imagined.

Sony is also preparing to bring 'Close Encounters of the Third Kind' to Ultra HD Blu-ray as well.

In the night skies near his Muncie, Indiana, home, power repairman Roy Neary experiences something out of this world. His close encounter sets into action an amazing chain of events that leads to contact with benevolent aliens and their Mothership.

No other details have been revealed at this time.
