It looks like Blu-ray will have a bear on its tail this summer...over.
In an early announcement to retailers, Universal is working on 'Smokey and the Bandit' for a Blu-ray release on June 5.
The 1977 action/comedy stars Burt Reynolds as a truck driver tasked with delivering 400 cases of beer in 28hrs while being pursued by the relentless Sheriff Buford T. Justice (Jackie Gleason).
The Blu-ray will feature 1080p video, a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 soundtrack, and supplements will include: Loaded Up and Truckin': Making Smokey and the Bandit; Snowman, What's Your 20? - The Smokey and the Bandit CB Tutorial; and two 100 Years of Universal featurettes (The Lot and The '70s).
Suggested list price for the Blu-ray is still undetermined at this time.
