6 new playable characters, VIP leaderboards, and time-limited achievements.
Ubisoft has shared some details about the upcoming Xbox One and PS4 versions of the excellent 'Rayman Legends,' which are due on February 18th in North America and February 20th in Europe. In addition to uncompressed textures and inconsequential loading times, the next-gen versions feature a barrage of new playable characters (which are more like costumes).
The Xbox One version features two new characters inspired by 'Far Cry 3's Vass, Ray Vaas, and Far Glob. Also on the Xbox One will be the Sam Fisher-inspired Splinter Ray.
Meanwhile, on the PS4, there will be the 'Assassin's Creed IV' Edward Kenway-inspired Assassin Ray.
On both systems, players can use Uplay points to buy Funky Ray, while Ubisoft says that players will "have the possibility to be awarded an exclusive VIP hero called Champion Ray (along with VIP status visible on the leaderboards). Champion Ray can be unlocked by the most active and highest-ranked players in the Online Challenges, as well as through active participation and involvement in the Rayman Legends community."
The Xbox One version will have new time-limited achievements and these 10 exclusive achievements will be in addition to 360 achievements that will be part of the Xbox One version. These exclusive "challenges require you to perform specific actions during a limited amount of time (one week). They are associated with various aspects of the game, such as player skills, co-op play, Kung Foot, and so on."
The PS4 version will have a new Camera Mode built around the touchpad. The game can be frozen and the picture zoomed and cropped with the touchpad for the purposed of being "Shared." The touchpad will also be used for scratching lucky tickets.
The next-gen versions are currently up for pre-order on Amazon for $39.99.
