The STARZ streaming platform is now available on more devices.
Following the app's initial launch last month, STARZ has announced the arrival of its subscription streaming service on select Android TV products. The standalone app offers STARZ online streaming and download support for offline viewing without the need for a traditional cable or satellite package.
The STARZ streaming service provides access to more than 2,400 titles each month, including STARZ original series like 'Outlander,' 'Power,' 'The Girlfriend Experience,' and the upcoming 'American Gods,' as well as popular movies including 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' and, later this year, 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens.' The service lets up to four users watch content simultaneously along with support for virtually unlimited downloads. STARZ is now available for Chromecast, Apple TV (4th gen and newer), iPhones and iPads running iOS 7.0 or higher, Google Nexus Player, Sony Android TV, and most Android phones, tablets and TV devices.
Customers can subscribe to the STARZ digital service in-app from their supported devices or through PCs and MACs. Likewise, current STARZ cable and satellite subscribers can also use the app by authenticating their memberships. The service costs $9 per month.
Outside of STARZ, HBO also offers its own standalone streaming service, HBO Now, for $15 per month; Showtime has a subscription app for $11 per month; CBS offers its CBS All Access service for $6 per month; NBC has its Seeso comedy platform for $4 per month; Lionsgate offers several streaming platforms including Tribeca Shortlist, Comic-Con HQ, and the upcoming Laugh Out Loud; and Criterion and TCM are readying their own FilmStruck streaming service for independent, art-house, international, and contemporary cinema.
