Ghost Recon Film Adaption Teased Alongside Discussion of 'Assassin's Creed' and 'Splinter Cell' Movies

Ubisoft's goal to ensure "that the essence" of its games is not lost in Hollywood adaptations.
In an interview with the LA Times, Jean-Julien Baronnet, chief executive of Ubisoft Motion Pictures, detailed how Ubisoft intends to control certain fundamentals of its movies with "relatively little of its own money on the line."
From the LA Times, "Unlike other game companies, Ubisoft has paid writers to develop ideas and struck deals with A-list stars before getting a studio involved," an arrangement that Baronnet explained by saying that "With so much at stake, it's important we don't give up the DNA of the game, the fundamental pillars."
Presumably, this means that Ubisoft will have a rough script and an A-list star attached before seeking a production company such as New Regency to carry a 'Ghost Recon' movie forward.
Another aspect revealed in the article involves possible sequels. While New Regency has to shoulder the financing on an initial project, Ubisoft retains the right to co-finance a sequel, an avenue that ensures that Ubisoft can easily capitalize should either 'Assassin's Creed' or 'Splinter Cell' become money-making movie projects.
