Several new portable speaker models have been announced.
Sony has detailed the latest additions to its EXTRA BASS Wireless Speaker Series. The new models include the SRS-XB40, SRS-XB30, SRS-XB20, and SRS-XB10.
The SRS-XB40 measures 4 by 11 inches and features club-like lighting effects with an LED perimeter line-light, a strobe flash, and speaker light, offering multicolor patterns that synchronize with the rhythm of the music playing. Likewise, the SRS-XB30 includes a similar multicolor line-light and strobe flash, and measures 3 by 9 inches. Meanwhile, the SRS-XB20 measures 2.5 by 8 inches and features a single color line-light which compliments the speaker color. All three models use a flexible two-way design allowing them to be placed horizontally or upright. The speakers can also be connected to each other through a wireless party chain option, enabling synchronized lights for up to 10 connected units through Bluetooth. In addition, users can pair two speakers of the same model together to create stereo sound. Multi-device connectivity and SongPal app support for mobile controls are included as well.
Finally, the extra portable SRS-XB10 measures 3.5 by 3 inches and offers EXTRA BASS sound and a long battery life rated for about 16 hours. Likewise, the speaker can be used in horizontal mode to send sound directly to listeners or in vertical mode to produce omnidirectional sound for groups. A silicon strap is also included which can be used as a stand or to hook the speaker to backpacks. A stereo mode option is offered as well, allowing customers to pair two units together.
All four models feature a water-resistant IPX5 design and one-touch connectivity and music streaming with NFC and Bluetooth compatibility. Exact release dates and pricing have not been announced yet, but the new Sony EXTRA BASS Wireless Series will be available in Spring 2017.
