Fully cross-compatible Active 3D glasses are on the way. Wait, this sounds like something we've heard a few times before...

If 3D TV is really going to take off in the way that manufacturers want it to, it's really got to get its act together. The big companies need to get together and make a decision on how to standardize it, or at least make glasses compatible across brands.

Order 'Oz the Great and Powerful'

Coming to Blu-ray June 11th

The group of Sony, Samsung, Panasonic and Xpand 3D are working together to create glasses that will work with any TV or movie theater that uses the Xpand 3D standard, which, we're assuming, it what's used by Active 3D televisions.

The upcoming glasses will play nice with both IR and Bluetooth enabled RF glasses so you won't have to worry about what your TV or projector uses. Other companies on board with this initiative include Toshiba, Sharp, and Mitsubishi.
