PlayStation 3 Rumor Mill: Sony to Ship PS3 with Blu-ray Demo Disc?

PlayStation 3 As the countdown to the November PS3 launch continues, rumors are now circulating that the game console will ship with a Blu-ray demo disc, which would include select scenes from available and/or soon-to-be-available Blu-ray titles.

Similar to a rumor we originally reported on last week, which had Sony planning to possibly bundle free Blu-ray movie titles with PS3 game releases, both reports are unconfirmed.

Sony is counting on the release of their Blu-ray enabled PlayStation 3 to give the next-gen format a boost. If the company is able to graduate even a small percentage of PS3 owners to adopt the Blu-ray format, it would give the Sony-backed format a clear edge over high-def rival HD DVD, at least until Micosoft launches *their* [post 230]rumored Xbox 360 update with a built in HD DVD drive.
