Sony had previously announced that Blu-ray playback would be handled through a PSX/PSP-style interface, and indeed as the photos above illustrate, playback functionality will be nearly identical to standard DVD playback on the PlayStation 2.
The PlayStation 3 playback was demoed alongside several other Blu-ray players and recorders from Sony, Matsushita, Hitachi and Pioneer at yesterday's Blu-ray press conference in Japan.
