The Roku player is a great little box, but like every Netflix streaming device, it's got some limitations. Next month, that all changes.
There's one problem that's true of all non-PC Netflix streaming solutions. There's no ability to browse. Whether you're on a Blu-ray player, the Xbox 360, or even a dedicated streaming device, you've still got to use your PC to add movies to your queue.
The Roku player is getting an update next month that takes care of all that. Now you'll be able to search and watch movies directly from the device, so there's no need to jump to the computer or bring out the laptop.
The new update is also addressing the look of the Roku's service. It was a really early Netflix device and looked the part. Compared to slick solutions like the Xbox 360, it was starting to look really dated, but the new update makes the service look nice again.
