Long-awaited feature finally coming to 'Grand Theft Auto Online.'
Aside from a PC, PS4, Xbox One release date, the number one question from players about 'Grand Theft Auto V' and its multiplayer mode 'Grand Theft Auto Online,' has been "where are the heists?" The game originally released back in September on the PS3 and 360, but its online mode suffered from a number of early setbacks including: a delayed launch, collapsed servers, corrupt and overwritten saves, micro-transactions, and a hacked online currency. All of which set back release dates for the mode's content additions.
Today, Rockstar promised amid the detailing of other planned updates, that Heists are finally coming to the game's online mode. "Coming this spring to Grand Theft Auto Online, team up with your most trusted Crew members or with random other mercenaries in Grand Theft Auto Online to pull off cooperative Heist Missions for glory and profit. We know many in the GTA Online community have been looking forward to this update — stay tuned for much more information to come."
This quick blurb was followed by another, if not altogether unexpected announcement, and that is the development of Story Mode DLC. "later this year, look for even more additions to both Grand Theft Auto Online and Grand Theft Auto V, including more holiday-themed updates, some very exciting Story Mode DLC and much more."
The release of story-based DLC could be a perfect time for the introduction of new platforms for the title, and that timing looks to be next fall at the earliest based off of today's statement. Other spring updates, such as the new Capture Creator feature, can be found here.
