"Similar to other social media networks."
New details emerged today for the Xbox One, specifically the new Friends system. These details include new features and new some numbers. With the newly announced features, it's clear that the Friends system is poised to become its own social network.
While the 360 limits players to 100 Friends, the Xbox One kicks that number up to 1,000. With so many, it may tough for players to quickly sort through to find certain frequent multiplayer partners, which is why there is a favorites feature to highlight those most important friends. While 1,000 is half the announced PS4 number, the Xbox One has another social feature with an unlimited number.
In addition to achievements, the new system has both passive and active video feeds for other players to watch. Instead of becoming Xbox Live friends, players can just become followers, and the number of possible followers is unlimited. Followers will be able to see the followed person's activity feed for a moment by moment update of Xbox One activities. Those uninterested in sharing so much information can use the privacy settings to restrict followers from their activity feed.
With friends list, achievements, and reputation carrying over from the 360, the new Xbox Live features already have years of minutiae for potential followers to pour through.
