"For Xbox One we’re 1080p upscaled from 720p. And, we’re native 1080p on PS4."
'Call of Duty: Ghosts' is coming to the Xbox 360, PS3 Wii U and PC next week, but it's the next-generation versions that have been fanning the flames of the console war. Infinity Ward, the developer behind 'Call of Duty: Ghosts,' and the 'Modern Warfare' series before has now come forward and confirmed that the PS4 version will have a resolution edge over the Xbox One.
From Mark Rubin, Executive Producer at Infinity Ward, "Hey, been on the road last couple weeks so haven’t had a chance to update, but wanted to confirm that for Xbox One we’re 1080p upscaled from 720p. And, we’re native 1080p on PS4. We optimized each console to hit 60 FPS and the game looks great on both. Still on the road, but glad to see the great reception to Extinction. Can’t wait for next week's launch."
Ultimately, the difference in upscaled 720p and native 1080p is the reason why people were aware of the difference in first place. The public theory had been that eventually the Xbox One version would be able to hit 1080p, but with the confirmation, that obviously won't be the case.
