For a limited time, the company is bundling a Blu-ray player and soundbar with its 4K display line, and promises a future HDMI 2.0 update.
As part of a special launch promotion, Toshiba is now selling its L9300U series of UHD television with a free bundle that includes a Toshiba SBX5065 SoundStrip and a Toshiba BDX6400 Ultra HD Media Box Blu-ray Player.
The L9300U series features a resolution of 3840x2160p, Toshiba's Cevo 4K engine for UHD image processing and upscaling, and local dimming capabilities. The televisions also have 3D support, Cloud TV options for streaming, and a ClearScan 240Hz refresh rate.
In addition, Toshiba has also addressed whether the displays will be capable of supporting the new HDMI standard, quelling a major concern for many Ultra HD early adopters. Though the TVs ship with only HDMI 1.4 capabilities, the company promises that a firmware upgrade will be available in December to enable HDMI 2.0 support.
"Toshiba is leading the industry in 4K Ultra HD technology," said Scott Ramirez, Toshiba America Information Systems digital products division marketing and development VP. "While many brands are just getting started in Ultra HD, our Cevo 4K engine is second-generation technology. Now we are adding HDMI 2.0 level capability so users can enjoy our amazing picture quality with higher-speed 60 fps 4K content."
The 58L9300U ($3,997), 65L9300U ($5,497), and the 84L9300U ($17,000) are all now available, along with the free limited time home theater bundle.
