Apparently the channel will be going in more of a GQ direction. The gaming and tech focus will remain.
G4 has gone through a lot of changes since it first launched and has turned from a videogame haven into a sort of technology/pop culture/gaming melting pot. Now it seems that things are going to change even more thanks to a rebranding that's due to happen next year.
The channel, which shares a similar audience and market as Spike, hopes to differentiate itself by heading in a more mature direction similar to that of GQ. We'll go ahead and assumes that means they'll be showing a few less episodes of COPS.
The rebrand is said to maintain a gaming and technology focus, but would simply offer a different approach. If this is indeed the case, we could be looking at something very good for the industry – adults talking about videogames like adults. We'll see what happens.
