At the top is a projector capable of a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio.

This weekend was a great one for folks who love new gear. Rather than seeing an announcement about a single new piece of hardware, we got to see mass press releases like the one from Epson. They announced not one, not two, not three, but seven new projectors!!

Order 'Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows'

Coming to Blu-ray June 12th

At the high end is the PowerLite Pro Cinema 61000, a projector capable of a 1,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. That may not sound as impressive when compared to an LED backlit LCD screen, but in a projector that's a number worth mentioning.

The Pro Cinema 31000 and Home Cinema 21000 use the same 3LCD Reflective technology as the 61000 but are only capable of dynamic contrasts of 500,000:1.

Epson's Pro Cinema 9350 and 9700 UB boast ratios of 50,000:1 and 200,000:1 respectively and are made specifically for the custom installer market.

The PowerLite Home Cinema 8350 and 8700 are made for those looking for affordable projectors and come in at less than $1,300 for the 8350 and under $2,200 for the 8700.
