The worst known issue is the disappearance of the game after redeeming its code.
Origin, Electronic Arts' PC download client, which is mandatory for certain EA titles such as today's 'SimCity,' is currently experiencing some serious growing pains. Customers anxious to play the reborn classic were not offered the option to preload the title's 12GB, and throughout the day the download service has been plagued with problems resulting from the strain.
"We are still in the process of delivering SimCity to some U.S. customers, but the majority has been fulfilled," stated Marcel Hatam, Origin's global community manager, but worse than the download wait and connectivity issues is a new redemption issue listed on EA's help site.
"IMPORTANT: Players affected by this outage may experience the following issues:
Attempting to redeem a code will appear to be successful, but will NOT actually apply to your account."
The notice concludes by suggesting that consumers wait to attempt to redeem codes,
"Our team is working to resolve this outage as soon as possible. In the meantime, if you are experiencing any issues with your Origin account, we recommend not trying to redeem any game codes. Please stay tuned for further updates."
Hopefully EA will have the issues resolved soon, allowing players access to their game and to their new cities.
