In an early alert to retailers, Paramount/DreamWorks has set a late-October bow for the macabre musical 'Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.'
Bringing together the minds of Tim Burton and Stephen Sondheim, the $50 million-grossing 'Sweeney Todd' will make its long-awaited Blu-ray debut on October 21, over six months after the standard DVD release. (DreamWorks had previously announced an HD DVD version for this past April, but nixed the release after the studio dropped support for the format.)
Tech specs for the Blu-ray include 1080p video and English Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Surround audio, along with French and Spanish Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround dubs.
No supplemental details are available as of yet, but extras are expected to mirror the previous DVD release.
Suggested retail for the Blu-ray has been set at $39.99.
