Our condolences. The deadly freshwater fish won't be leaping out of TVs until early January.
As previously reported from a very early announcement to retailers, Alejandre Aja's 'Piranha - 3D' was reportedly planned for the Blu-ray 3D format on December 27, but now it seems Sony will be releasing the title on January 11, part of their New Year's resolution to spend the upcoming year swamping home video with excessively violent 3D fun.
The film is a loose remake of Joe Dante's 'Piranha' (already released on Blu-ray as part of Shout Factory's Corman Classics line and reviewed by HDD's own Tom Landy) and stars Elizabeth Shue, Jerry O'Connell, Richard Dreyfuss, and Ving Rhames.
Specs and supplements have yet to be revealed, but suggested list price for the 3D Blu-ray is set at $39.95, while another version (we're assuming is a standard Blu-ray) is listed at $34.95.
You can find the latest specs for both versions of 'Piranha - 3D' linked from our Blu-ray Release Schedule, where it's now indexed under January 11.
