In a late-breaking announcement, next-gen newcomer MVD Entertainment Group has set a late-October date for the launch of their first wave of Blu-ray releases.

The eclectic indie DVD distributor will jump into high-def on October 28, when it unleashes a trio of music and exploitation titles on Blu-ray.

Included in the slate is the concert film 'Blackalicious: 4/20 Live in Seattle,' and the drive-in flicks 'Cannibal Taboo' and 'Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter' (which boasts the immortal tagline, "The power of Christ impales you!").

There are no tech or supplement details as of yet, but MVD is gearing their titles as low-priced next-gen offerings, so bonus features may be limited.

Suggested list price for 'Cannibal Taboo' is $24.95, and $19.95 for 'Blackalicious' and 'Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter.'

You'll find preliminary specs for all three of MVD's offerings linked from our Blu-ray Release Schedule, where they're indexed under October 28.
