The classic 1944 British comedy will be getting the Blu-ray treatment in March.
In an early announcement to retailers, Inception Media Group is working on 'On Approval' for Blu-ray on March 19.
Clive Brook adapted and stars as George, the 10th Duke of Bristol, in this hilarious adaptation of Frederick Lonsdale's play. George and his equally impoverished friend Richard (Roland Culver) are invited to spend a month at a Scottish mansion by two wealthy women (played by Beatrice Lillie and Googie Withers) to test their compatibility as potential marriage partners. What follows is a delightfully witty romance described by Lindsay Anderson as the funniest British light comedy ever made.
Specs have yet to be revealed, but the Blu-ray will feature a transfer struck from the original 35mm film and supplements will include: Googie Withers remembers On Approval with film historian Kevin Bronlow, Audio commentary by film historian Jeffrey Vance, and an essay by film critic and historian Scott Eyman.
Suggested list price for the Blu-ray is $34.98.
