The 1953 Japanese epic will arrive on Blu-ray in April.
In an early announcement to retailers, Criterion is working on 'Gate of Hell' will hit Blu-ray on April 9.
A winner of Academy Awards for best foreign-language film and best costume design, Gate of Hell is a visually sumptuous, psychologically penetrating work from Teinosuke Kinugasa.
The Blu-ray will feature 1080p video, an uncompressed mono soundtrack, and supplements will include a booklet featuring an essay by film historian Stephen Prince.
Suggested list price for the Blu-ray is $29.95.
