Can the sequel echo the original's success minus the bugs?
Deep Silver and Techland scored with 'Dead Island' mainly by merging the kind of cooperative raiding reserved for fantasy games with a zombie outbreak in a tropical paradise. 'Dead Island: Riptide' is in reality offering more off the same. The story picks up directly after the first game and a saved character can even be brought over.
With 'Riptide,' publisher Deep Silver is promising a refinement on the gameplay systems, including the combat, looting, and crafting. The gameplay has made the natural progression towards defensive stands popular in zombie fiction and zombie games.
Deep Silver has also teased expanded the gameplay area to the water, forcing players to combat zombies while on skiffs and fishing boats.
'Dead Island: Riptide' is set for release on April 23rd in North America and Amazon is offering a free Limited Edition Steelbook with pre-orders.
