LG is set to integrate DTS audio tech into its full lineup of products.
DTS and LG have announced a new long-term global deal that will see LG incorporate DTS technology into their home theater devices. The deal covers LG's entire collection of entertainment products, including Ultra HD TVs, soundbars, and receivers, and will focus on the integration of the DTS-HD decoder.
"This agreement marks a significant expansion in delivering DTS' premium audio to more LG products and more customers worldwide," said Jea Yoo, president, DTS Korea. "We are here to fully support LG's dedication to providing their customers with products that deliver the best sound quality, and look forward to working together in bringing to market next-generation products that provide a breathtaking entertainment experience."
The DTS-HD decoder enables complete support for all DTS formats up to 11.1 channels, including DTS Digital Surround, DTS Coreless Lossless, DTS Express and DTS-HD Master Audio. In addition, the decoder is designed for streaming media and over-the-top playback, as well as compatibility with the DTS legacy audio tech found on DVDs and Blu-rays.
"Our strategic alliance with DTS ensures that our newest products will offer consumers a home entertainment experience that will sound as good as it looks," said Jeong-hwan Lee, executive vice president, LG Electronics. "DTS audio technology will ensure that we are able to deliver an audio experience that exceeds the expectations consumers have of our industry-leading OLED and 4K Ultra HD TVs, digital players and audio systems."
