Multiple sub-categories means more than one choice.
After consulting with High-Def Digest staff, we almost have a consensus pick for game of the year. Then again, with so many sub-genres and distinct platform offerings, not to mention new releases hitting every week, we are left with only one option, opening it up to the forums.
Here's the breakdown. First and foremost, we are looking for the best overall game of the year. Then we have the best downloadable title, like say 'Bit.Trip Runner 2,' followed by the best game per the following platforms: PC, 360, PS3, Wii U, Vita, and 3DS.
Then we have three sub-genres, sports title, action/shooter, and the best non-traditional game game.
Games that were released around this time last year are eligible for all game of the year categories.
Last of all, with so many games left in this year and upcoming early next year, we want to hear which unreleased game, is the most anticipated. This should be a game that is expected sometime soon, unlike say 'The Last Guardian,' or 'Half-Life 3.'
Note: When the High-Def Digest Game of the Year List is released, it may feature quotes from the forum vote, whether they be good, bad, or ugly, so don't be surprised to your GOTY description being quoted.
