The company was unprepared, but Activision VP Daniel Suarez says they'll be ready to go soon.
To say that 'Modern Warfare 3' is popular would be an incredible understatement. It's reached past the typical gaming crowd and has become a landmark release for the more casual crowd as well. That's great for a company, unless they're woefully unprepared to handle the demand for their new online stat tracking service.
VP Daniel Suarez told Kotaku that it wasn't just one thing that caused the problem, but a group of things. Obviously, incredible demand for the Elite program didn't help. "For lack of a better term," says Suarez, "our databases got hammered with the millions of people trying to use Elite and it couldn't put up with the demand."
Call of Duty Elite will be brought on bit by bit until the whole thing is up and running, which will be in the next few weeks. Hopefully, Activision will be ready for the glut of new players that will be coming in just over a month when all the good little girls and boys open up the first-person-shooter that Santa brought them for Christmas.
