It's capable of 3D playback as well as the conversion of 2D movies into 3D.
The latest Blu-ray hardware release from Samsung isn't a player or a home theater system, but an external drive made for use with PCs and Macs.
The SE-406A is compatible with all current major operating systems and can read Blu-rays, DVDs and CDs. It writes to CD and DVD, but not Blu-ray discs.
"With a compact footprint for easy portability, the new external 3D Blu-ray ODD is USB powered to eliminate electrical outlet requirements while enabling ultra fast data loading speeds," says Samsung VP Jim Elliott.
Samsung's new external 3D Blu-ray drive will be available in April at a price of $150.
