The rumor of a straight up buyout may not be true, but the licensing deal doesn't seem too farfetched.
The folks at Bethesda are no strangers to taking over properties and turning them into something completely new. According to a recent post, the company may be taking over the 'STALKER' series, which has been abandoned by its original team.
'STALKER 2' was supposed to be developed for a 2012 release but was cancelled once the original 'STALKER' team left. It's not exactly the largest name in gaming, but Bethesda is a big enough publisher to make things happen for the game.
Just what Bethesda will do with the franchise is a mystery, but if 'STALKER 2' is anywhere close to done, you can bet that'll be the first move.
