A new NOOK tablet model has been announced just in time for the holidays.
Barnes & Noble has revealed the latest addition to its NOOK lineup. At $50, the new NOOK Tablet 7" is now the company’s most affordable model yet.
"We're extremely excited to introduce our most affordable NOOK ever, just in time for the holiday shopping season, so customers can give their loved ones the gift of reading forever for less," said Fred Argir, Chief Digital Officer at Barnes & Noble. "NOOK Tablet 7" has everything that customers expect from a NOOK, but for less than $50. It truly is the perfect present for everyone in the family, providing access to millions of NOOK Books and a universe of content at an unbeatable price."
The tablet features a 7-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1024 x 600 and 171 ppi. Under the hood, the device is powered by a quad-core processor running Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) with full access to the Google Play Store and the NOOK Store with millions of NOOK Books, and thousands of NOOK Audiobooks, magazines, and newspapers. A rear 5 MP camera with auto focus and a front 2 MP camera are integrated as well. Battery life is rated for up to 7 hours of reading, watching videos, and web browsing. In addition, the tablet includes 8GB of on-board memory and support for up to 128GB with an optional microSD card. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity are featured as well, along with a Micro-USB 2.0 port and a 3.5 mm headset jack.
The new NOOK Tablet 7" will be available for $50 at Barnes & Noble stores starting on Black Friday, November 25.
