Is Apple Ready To Embrace Blu-ray?

Apple may finally be ready to make the leap.
There has been rampant speculation about the prospect of Macs finally going Blu, but some cryptic statements made in Apple Insider may be the hint that it’s finally happening. According to the site, they’ve given a glimmer of information about some of the new features coming to Apple’s popular computer line
“One of the features is said to have long been on the wish-lists of many Mac users, while the other is expected to cater to the semi-professional audio/video crowd,” states writer Kasper Jade. This is of course information from people close to Apple, who were unable to comment on anything official.
Both of those features certainly sound like they could apply to Blu-ray, and it may be time for Apple to consider it. Steve Jobs stated back in October of 2008 that they would be waiting until things got a bit less complicated before diving into the market. “We’re waiting until things settle down, and waiting until Blu-ray takes off before we burden our customers with the cost of licensing.”
The addition of a Blu-ray player/recorder would make a lot of sense, especially with the number of people using Macs for video editing and the recent addition of Blu-ray capability to Final Cut Pro.
